Try Again Sally Jane

Yesterday’s post made me think of some of my favorite books when I was little. The Giving Tree is an obvious one, but this book, Try Again Sally Jane I think has been one of the most formative in my life:) Sally Jane attempts to learn to roller-skate, only to fall flat on her face throughout the story. I think “Try Again Sally Jane” has become my mantra and I find myself thinking of it more and more lately!
Other favorites of mine included: The Sleep Book, The Wolf’s Chicken Stew, and The Little Mouse, The Bright Red Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear.

Sleepy Kittens

My sister just sent me this book to look at and I MUST have it. It’s the book that Gru reads to the girls in Despicable Me! If you haven’t seen the movie, please do so as soon as possible. It’s extremely clever, sweet, and unexpected.
Do you have any movies you secretly (or not so secretly) adore that might be targeted for a slightly younger age range?

Wren Spring

I really REALLY wish it would get warm so I could wear Spring clothing. Especially clothing like Wren’s new Spring collection. I miss you bright colors and sunglasses.

Catching up! I feel like this week I’ve been one step behind, so after a night of some crazy dancing with coworkers  I hope to get at least something done (maybe).  I am keeping my fingers crossed for some warmer weather here, but we will see!

Parfaits

It’s no secret I love Mason Jars (see stuff holders,  and red velvet jars, ) They are SO versatile (like what Laura did!!) . So, when I saw this recipe for White Chocolate Mousse with Blueberry Compote IN a Mason Jar, I definitely bookmarked it. They would be adorable at a summer (come soon!) or outdoor dinner party for something different.

Happy Birthday Mom!

 

  

Happy Birthday to my most lovely mother!
My mom is really amazing.  If I have any style, creativity, or flair it’s only a fraction of what she has passed down to me. She is the type of Mom who takes on 5 million projects and events at one time and pulls them off flawlessly. My brother and sister and I always had THE.BEST. birthday parties around (and still do!) because of her.  Our house is and was the type of house that everyone feels comfortable barging through the front door and hanging around for dinner thanks to her.  She might/maybe/possibly have allowed us to play hooky to go to the zoo, on picnics, or shopping when it was too lovely of a day to go to school.
Also, the picture above with her holding the two dairy queen Hawaiian blizzards says a lot. 
I love you Mama! A happiest birthday to you!

Pretty Salad

Vintage Picnic Wedding Reception

I sometimes get overwhelmed with how much I love something. This is the case of this Vintage Picnic Wedding Reception above. I don’t even have words for how adorable and perfect this is. You could absolutely use this theme for a spring or summer party as well, not just a wedding reception. WOW.
P.S. The bride’s dress was absolutely stunning as well!

I’ve written before about the blog Advanced Style and I just can’t get enough! I love how fantastic all of the people featured are despite being told to “dress for their age.” I could only hope to be half that trendy and wonderful.
