I'm going through this phase in my life where I need to feel a bit empowered. Has anyone else ever felt like that?
I was given the best advice recently concerning my life, and everything else: Why do you feel like you have to ask for permission to go after what you want? Who really is going to hold you back?
I'm just going to put this out there, and see what happens. I'm wanting to start a creative project that's new, exciting, challenging, collaborative and inspiring. I'm starting to formulate exactly what that's going to look like, but if you have any awesome and thrilling ideas, I would love to hear.
hi there. i'm katie, from the parsley thief - a food blog with a bit of lifestyle, parenting and design thrown in. i'm very excited to get a chance to participate in emily's what she wears series - this is something i love doing, but don't get a chance to as much as I would like. emily and i met at blogshop nyc last fall - she's a super sweet girl and i'm happy to have discovered her great blog!
most days my style is comfortable clothing because i work from home and can really wear whatever i'd like. but when i do go out - even if it's just for one of my boy's sports game, or a trip to the market, i try to put some measure of effort into looking decent. this is a difficult time of year to do a style board because everything in the stores is moving into spring, yet it's still freezing out! yet - it's the perfect time of year for layering - one of my favorite things to do. i love mixing colors and patterns - playing with textures and accessorizing to tie a look together.
Thanks so much Katie! I just wanted to throw in there to all you readers that Katie AND her two kids were sick yesterday, and she still managed to put together this beautiful post. Talk about a woman who can do it all!
P.S. If you want to enter the giveaway, tomorrow is the last day!
Just a round up of places I wish were mine lately! People have some pretty awesomely beautiful spaces they are living in. It's sunny and warm (ish) today, so I'm back in a happy mood and inspired to redecorate.
On another note, I'm finally updating my navigation tabs. Inspiration is already done, check it out!
I'm not sure what's more depressing: Mondays, or the fact that it's completely dark and dreary outside. I guess it's the combination of both that's getting me this morning. Also, I don't know what I'm going to do with my life in the near future, so that's something. If you have any suggestions, feel free to send them my way.
Anyway, I thought everyone could use a little bit of summer. I know I'm cheered up already- Take THAT Monday!
We're clearing out some of our etsy inventory in order to give the store a fresh new look, a makeover, if you will! That being said, we still have some great items that we want to go to a good home:)
Thus, a Friday Giveaway!
For this giveaway, you can win your choice of our dry erase board OR if you would like something else (like the Word Type wreath, above) you can have a store credit of $35 to apply to item of your choice.
1. Be a public follower of Running in Heels
2. Leave a comment stating which dry erase board you would like, or what item you would buy with your $35.00 credit.
**This post is sponsored by Eastbay, but everything is of course my opinion about exercise!
What do you guys do for exercise?
In the past, I ran every single day, and started to feel like such a robot. This year I started a new class to change it up, Soul Cycle. Let me tell you- it kicks me around, i.e. within the first 3 minutes I thought I might die. Imagine spinning, mixed with conditioning and weight lifting (yes, while you are still spinning!). It's intense and I love it.
The first day I showed up in class in my typical old shorts and T-shirt workout gear. I was so embarrassed because I was the only one NOT in amazing workout gear. Lesson learned-- never show up to fitness classes on the Upper West side looking less than fabulous.
hello there, i'm joana from myseastory, a blog about my life in the caribbean. i am so happy to be guest posting on running in heels new what she wears series!
since tangerine tango is the 2012 colour chosen by pantone, i thought i would share a few basics that i hope to put to use here in turks and caicos - and hopefully get you in a summer mood and pay me a visit!
tangerine silk west fall shirt from madewell; braziliant nail polish from essie; opal orange clutch from sugar mills; tangerine tango mug from pantone; ornament orange chino shorts from jcrew; secret agents i met and liked notebook from archie grand; golden campana flats from melissa - joana
Thanks so much to Joana for the warm, beach going thoughts:)
My parents were in town for a few nights (yeah!), and last night we ate at a new, hidden little restaurant. I love finding places that are out of the way, and Covo definitely is. Covo is a great Italian place in an area not really known for amazing food (135th and 12th, yikes!). It's completely out there on it's own, and stumbling upon this place was so very lucky. We had some seriously delicious and affordable italian food, and felt like we were in our own little world. If you live around here, or are visiting NYC, you should absolutely check it out. If you're looking for a fancy, night on the town, this is NOT it. However, if you want a laid back, dinner and wine with friends-- go now!
I'd love to know on this Friday afternoon, What's your skincare routine? Soap and water? Fancy products? Sleep in your makeup:)?
Skincare has ALWAYS been important to me. Glowing skin is it's own form of beauty, no matter what you are wearing, or how your hair is, pretty skin shines through. I swear by the above products, they can get kind of pricey, but are totally worth it. 1 and 2 in the morning, the rest everyday or as needed. You will be fresh faced in no time!
Do you ever have days where you feel like you a losing your mind (= me, today). I think next time I'm feeling like this I'm just going to get a bunch of stickers and go crazy like the sticker project, above.
Hi, I'm Shoko from sho & tell. I'm thrilled to be posting today on Running in Heels - thank you so much for the invite, Emily!
This year, one of my New Year's resolutions was to wear clothes that make me smile. With that in mind, I put together an outfit using items from some of my favorite shops: ship-shaped earrings, kneepad tights, a silvery skirt, the legendary ban.do pop flower - I'm feeling happier already!
I'm so thrilled to introduce you to a new series that I will be starting tomorrow featuring guest posts from all of my blogging friends...
What She Wears Wednesdays!
Each Wednesday, some awesome bloggers that I met at blogshop (and also some other special guests!) will do a post about their personal style. It's going to be a great series and I'm super excited to share it with you!
As you all might have noticed, I'm using this week to take a little mini vacation from blogging. I'm trying to get organized and prepared for 2012, and I'm so excited for what I will have to share with you starting next week! Be looking forward to a new series, giveaways, guest posts, and other types of fun!
Can't wait to see you Monday!
P.S. In preparation for new items in the etsy store, we are trying to clear out old inventory (a dry erase board would keep you super organized for the new year!). So, take 25% off with the code heels at checkout.
